I drove all night is my favourite. It was such a surprise number I had never heard it before. Also In Dreams, so beautiful.

Interesting comments about "I Drove All Night". ;D I cannot believe some of you hadn't heard it before. I fell in love with it the first time I listened to Roy Orbison sing it.

Yes Bella... I hadn't heard of it and when I saw that D was including it on the album, I googled it... came up with a couple but I watched Celine Dion... good version and it actually made me like the song immediately. However, Damien's version makes my heart race, it's just beautiful.

Yeah Glawz, I think Cyndi Lauper did a version of it also. As much as I do love "I Drove All Night", I would have to say my all time favourite is "In Dreams". It is such a beautiful song and I could listen to it again and again without ever getting sick of it. Damien does such a wonderful version of it

In Dreams is the most "Idol"like performance.

Well, it feels like the vocal performance ticks all the boxes in terms of vocal gymnastics and range and the song builds like a longer version of an Idol performance...

Yes, I agree Bella.... I love In Dreams too... but basically there's not one song on the album that I don't like... just slight preference for a few.

Bella I had heard Roy and Cyndies version, I was surprised that many had not too. Sometimes my song preference can be mood relatedv too eg Need boppy or mellow. I do find I really am loving the whole of Roy though.

Same here Bella, ;D and I love D's version even more!! Here's my order of preferences...pretty much the same as Dawns, but changed around a little. Dream Baby I Drove All Night Handle With Care Oh, Pretty Woman (my happy song) You Got It She's a Mystery To Me working for the Man In dreams Crying (like it, but have heard it so many times before I don't really listen to it now)

I love "In Dreams" and agree with you that it's the most "Idol-like" of D's performances on "Roy".. however, I wouldn't describe it as having "vocal gymnastics" which implies excessive trilling and superfluous notes, to me. I would describe it as utilising Damien's range and emotional qualities to the fullest, combined with a simple yet gorgeous arrangement, without unnecessary instrumentation to detract from his vocals. The simple string accompaniment is just lovely! This is definitely the kind of emotive performance we all fell in love with originally.

That's not bad, but it is very clinical and controlled.

Oh and gotta add I really enjoy "I Drove All Night " and " You Got It" too! They aren't my top faves, but they are up there as well! Hell, I think there's only one or two songs I rarely listen to - but it ain't these!
