From: www.chuggentertainment.com/tour/434/Carrie+UnderwoodDAMIEN LEITH CONFIRMED TO SUPPORT CARRIE UNDERWOOD Chugg Entertainment & Rob Potts Entertainment Edge are today thrilled to confirm that multi-platinum singer/songwriter, Damien Leith, is confirmed to support Carrie Underwood at her upcoming performances in Melbourne, Tamworth and Brisbane.
On hearing the exciting news, Leith said, "It's not every day you get asked to support an artist like Carrie Underwood. She's an exceptional singer/songwriter with one of the best voices in the world and I am very honoured to share her stage with her. These concerts are going to lift the roof!"
Last year, Leith saw the release of his most triumphant album to date, the highly successful ROY - A Tribute To Roy Orbison. ROY has surpassed platinum status, peaked at #2 on the ARIA charts and spent 16 weeks in the national top 20, making it the fourth highest selling album by any Australian artist in 2011.
April this year saw Leith return with ROY’s anticipated follow-up, NOW & THEN. The “now” representing a wonderful new selection of Damien’s self-penned songs, displaying the young song smith’s maturity as a world-class troubadour and balladeer. And Then … The other half of NOW & THEN sees Damien pick up where the ROY project left off, further celebrating and honouring the music of Roy Orbison, this time alongside his famous mates from the late-80s stellar outfit, the Traveling Wilburys. The Wilburys, of course, saw Roy Orbison join forces with fellow music icons Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty in the supergroup to end all supergroups.
Leith will be warming the stage up for Carrie Underwood in Melbourne, Tamworth and Brisbane only. Underwood will perform the entire show at the prestigious Sydney Opera House dates.

Just saw an ad prior to Masterchef about the Palais gig in Melbourne tomorrow night with Damien as supporting artist in large letters! Awesome, great promo! Princey and I are going and we can't wait to see D in such a great venue. It will be really interesting to hear what he sings. St Kilda is a fun part of town too, lots of great cafes and restaurants. D.knows it well.

Sorry you cpuldn't be with us Glawzy. Twas fun, but very brief, as we had of course known. Makes the Palms even more to anticipate I guess, now that we've heard some of D's new songs LIVE! Set list! Unless You Say So I'll Be Your Baby Tonight ( very sexy!) swoon! Beautiful Maybe Someday Crying Let Me Be Your Rescue Pretty Woman On the way home after a fun night out. I love the Palais, it's such an atmospheric old theatre- even if the seats are ancient and uncomfortable. We didn't sit for long though. As soon as D came on stage, we were on our feet, luckily being in the last row of the stalls and having no-one's view to obstruct we could dance and clap to our hearts content! Set list was great! It was fabulous that D did four of his originals from Now and Then. The band sounded brilliant- Chris on keys, Cesar on bass and charango and Steve on rhythm guitar. Their harmonies with D were fantastic- someone has a really beautiful voice in particular - not sure who though. However, Damien's vocals tonight were magical- at his very best. Maybe Someday, with it's huge falsie moment was astonishing live. Beautiful ( D sang the slightly deeper key version) and Crying sounded wonderful- great crowd reaction for them too. I love Unless You Say So and it was a great upbeat opener to his set. It works really well in acoustic mode, a little surprisingly. D's whoops are infectious ! Haha! Pretty Woman was a terrific finisher. Crowd really seemed to enjoy it, as they did his entire (very short, to us) set. Some whistles and hoots of appreciation in the audience and enthusiastic applause- not just from us. It was great to see such a large group really enjoying D's music. One minor thing- it wouldn't be D if he didn't stuff up lyrics, LOL but I think we were the only ones who noticed. And, although D remembered to mention he'd be back in Melbourne in September, he forgot to mention where he'd be playing- The Palms, D, the PALMS AT CROWN! Haha! He did say he was headed to Nashville next month again- but warned others to stay away, since he has been through a mega storm and a tornado in his last two visits- he's a jinx! LOL! Carrie and her band (for those interested), were very professional, if her band was a tad loud for her, IMO. She's not my cup of tea, but is extremely good at what she does. Now and Then was on sale in the foyer, which was great to see. No signing though.

Fantastic set list. So thrilled to see the originals there and that the crowd enjoyed hearing Damien. there was a bit of a backlash from some dyed in the wool country supporters about Damien being the support but it appears as though he has put them in their place (which I knew he was more than capable of doing). Thanks so much Trilly for your report.

On the subject of the crowd enjoying him, Braff my DD3 (early 20s ) has just told me that a few of her friends were at the gig and they remarked on Facebook that Damien was fantastic! How brilliant is that? ;D The crowd were a mix of ages from early teens to quite elderly. Brilliant exposure for our man, who is kinda obviously aiming for that very large and diverse country market currently. I don't really mind, I guess, as long ad he stays away from the excessively saccharine variety. Also on that subject, a very rude woman who arrived after D's set said as she passed us " thank gawd I didn't have to listen to him!" I murmured " Umm, bad move sweetie, you're in the company of dedicated Damienites and them's fighting words!" baha!

Oh, you lucky 's!!!!!!!!!! Sounds magic. So glad to hear the originals. Can imagine that he was encouraged to do his own stuff by her (Carrie) management, whilst his own, does not appear to encourage it I think if I was there , I would have been so down after only 30 mins!.... Roll on September
