Sounds awesome, Trilly. I am so glad that Damien sang so many originals, It makes sense really. Just the right sprinkling of songs that everyone knows. I'll bet Damien was nervous! He looked like he was concentrating really hard in the photo he posted on twitter.. it must be awful to walk out to such a big crowd when they have come to see someone else. How big was the crowd do you know? Great to hear they were into it and weren't a bad mannered bunch. (unlike the charmer who you overheard) Thanks for the report! ETA: oops just looked up the capacity of the Palais..it's not a huge venue..don't know why but I was thinking arena doh!

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't get on last night, it's too hard on my phone and by the time I got home at around midnight I was exhausted, unfortunately some of us still have to work Like Trilly said, it was a great show, I was thrilled to bits to hear Damien's originals, they sounded fantastic, the setlist was awesome I managed to record 'Let Me Be You're Rescue' I haven't listened to it yet and the picture is practically non existent, like Trilly said we were in the back row, but I'll see how it sounds and will put it up later. It was great to be able to get up and dance a bit and the audience did sound happy by the end. I wish all the Melbourne girls could have been there with us, we missed you guys Carrie wasn't bad, like Trilly said, she was a bit drowned out by her band, I ended up with a headache from the bright lights shining right into my eyes. But overall I had a great time I tried to post this earlier but my internet dropped out, sorry! There was a big crowd Smiley and that charmer could have almost tripped over my foot as she walked past me but I was too much in awe after seeing Damien

Sounds fantastic Trills and Princey. We have so much to look forward to in September.
There was a little snippet in today's Herald Sun:
"DAMIEN LEITH is ready to take his music on the road. The Australian Idol winner, who released an album two months ago said, "This year it's all about touring for me. I'll be back in Melbourne in September." He supported Carrie Underwood at the Palais on Monday?? night. Leith was a big fan of The Voice and singer Diana Rouvas, who dates the band's guitarist. "She's incredible. I loved the blind auditions... there was none of that negativity about the singers' looks" he said."

Thanks Trilly and Princey! ;D Lovely reports and GREAT setlist! He basically sang all my fav's from N&T! And I love the fact that he opened with Unless You Say So! Sounds like the crowd were pretty appreicative, except for that one lady of course! My best friends sister went and she LOVES Carrie Underwood, but she said Damien was great!

Smiley, D didn't appear nervous to us onstage. In fact, I remarked to Princey that he seemed remarkably calm. (Of course, we don't know what he was feeling! Ha!) When full the Palais holds 2,500 odd. I'm not sure how many of the two upper levels seats where occupied, couldn't tell from our vantage point, but if it was anywhere near capacity it's the largest venue he's played since Idol, if memory serves. He seemed pretty chuffed by the audience reaction, so it's a pity he isn't playing the Opera House with her, for nostalgia's sake too. Krissy, it really seems, from my personal observation, that young folk such as yourself enjoy this album. I think that's very cool!

TRILLY
TERRIFIC REPORT
You covered everything about the night to what I was looking for and in addition I think the set list was excellent.
When you do six songs and that include Crying/Pretty Woman and Maybe Someday makes me think that the people responsible for the list were right up to speed in what he should be singing.
New audience with a few exceptions (DLO members) means to me new supporters.
The only disappointment to me was the key change in Beautiful as I love the falsetto moment late in the song.
What do you think Trilly does it take away from how it has been recorded and sung at previous concerts?
It is amazing how good he really is and it once you hear him again all those performances come flooding back.
Oct 6 seems a long long way away

Thanks guys. Yep, we did miss you all, Melbourne s . Bring on The Palms! Brian, the version of of Beautiful which D sang is different in that it has lower notes in the chorus, but it is still lovely and he still takes it up again at the end, if I remember rightly. I just loved him singing it. He mentioned the Estée Lauder ad too, which was great. I have to agree that Damien showcased his talents in the best possible way last night - his gobsmacking voice and delivery, his onstage charisma and fun-loving personality, his song-writing class and his ability to sing a brilliant cover. That lots of albums were sold (we didn't hang around to see. It was quite cold in Melbourne last night). I have no doubt he gained many new admirers. In fact, I saw a tweet where a lady said that was the first time she'd heard him sing and she thought he was amazing. ;D

I haven't been around for a long time, and apologise for that, but this sounds like such a good opportunity that Damien grabbed with both hands. As you all do, I love the set list! Thanks for the reports Trilly and Princey

I'm so thrilled Damien got to perform there. And he's had a few very positive comments on twitter. For some reason I had it in my mind (maybe because when I did a youtube search for Carrie one of the first vids had 33 million views!!!! ) that she'd be performing to 10,000 or so... ha! Didn't even look at the venue! Oh wouldn't it be fantastic for him to do the Opera House again..**sigh** It makes my heart glad that he looked relaxed and performed HIS songs. Should have stuck that foot out a bit more Princey! Oh Brian, I love the version of Beautiful where he goes down instead of up. Always takes me by surprise though!
