Was wonderful to catch up with Glawz and Plugz. Then we caught up with 2Damienfans, Spud and Brian (although he jokingly didn't want to know me when I started talking about the big black clouds outside
) Also caught up with the young couple I've come across at a few shows who played Damien's music at their wedding.
Georgia Carroll came out at 9:20pm and performed until 10:05. She is a very talented 17 yr old who has supported Damien previously at the BM.
Then Eric came out and started playing, until Damien bounced out onto the stage in his black jeans(he's lost a little weight), black and white striped tshirt (which was supposed to make him appear less pale
) and black cons
Glawz can fill you in on what he said. He began with
* Beautiful
and then talked about the 2 song show at the BM previously
before singing
* Halfway Heart
Damien then talked about how he was determined to get a 6 pack this year (4 in front and 2 lower down at the back
) and sang
* Million Reasons and
* Crying
he then talked about the kid's new trampoline (as big as the Living Room) now a landmark for the astronauts
and performed
* Lonely Nights
Then talked about Chapter 7 and Joe Melson, which led into
* I Can Stop you Crying, then
* Never Forget
and wished Glawz a Happy Birthday before singing a dedication
* Only the Lonely
Next came the intimate moment and Eric left the stage.
Damien sang a snippet of
* Whiskey in the Jar (but couldn't remember a lot) next he talked about how he sometimes receives gifts and some of them are even naughty
so Of course I gave him a gift
after handing him an apple
....he really wants to wear these things on his nose
so I was hissing at him....next came
* All I Want is You
before talking about his mailing list and how people could get a free song if they wrote down their email addresses
Next came
* Have I Told You Lately That I Love You
before Eric came back and Damien and Eric discussed snakes after Damien tried to tell Eric that the gift was his
and sang a song requested in the intimate moments
* Last Sad Song which morphed into
* Everywhere you Go
then a group requested
* 22 Steps for the 4 folk who requested it
He then talked about his outfit of shorts over tights with Doc Martens
when he was younger with long hair. They then performed another request
* Hallelujah which led into Sleepwalker
Talked about the International Song writing Contest which had eighteen and a half thousand entries and how pleased he was that You and I was a finalist
and sang an acoustic version to give the audience an idea of the song
* You and I
Then came
* Without a Fight
and he sang a very special song next........after which he sang (with help from the audience)
* some of Summer of 69
and then another request
* Wicked Game before launching into
* Kiss and then
* Pretty Woman
then he messed around with the audience with a "scat" competition.
Damien was having a ball tonight and was literally bouncing off the walls, Eric was having a great time too. The audience was not as large as some shows, but they were having a lot of fun and were happy to sing along, clap and be vocal. It was great to see so many young people there too.
Damien was lovely enough to stay behind after a 90 minute show and chat with folk, including us...with hugs all around and signing and photo snapping.
Thanks a lot Damien, we really do appreciate the time you give
