Yeah, I noticed the subtle change in lyrics! He seemed to be trying to cover up all of the questionable points in the song... sounded perfectly clear everywhere else, so I think maybe he did change it on purpose. Either that or he was apprehensive about it and changed it subconsciously. It was a weird choice for Christmas. But then, they had Human Nature do one of their motown songs, so after that it didn't really seem that odd after all.

I thought he changed that lyric too! I mean you're surrounded by kids with reindeer ears and beaming faces. Hard to sing about shooting someone eh!! But yeah I couldnt work out if he changed it or it was just an odd accent/nerves thing. Mostly a boring night but Damien was fantastic - of course. Paulini was great and looked like such a twit dancing with the Wiggles. I thought Kate looked pretty good tonight - and usually I think her stylist needs to be shot. She seems like a sweety. Emily always sounds screamy to me. Jade McRae was really dull and I couldnt work out what was going on with Guy. His performance just seemed really strange.... Maybe he's not well? I always kinda like the Wiggles And the opera guy is such a dork with a great voice - I like him too. I just realised - basically I like dorky people who sing beautifully.

Well, just when I thought I couldn't watch another minute lest I suffered permanent blindness from sequin overload, D finally made an appearance. Worth the torturous wait - I thought he was wonderful hitting notes with confidence and looking charmingly disheveled, as if he'd...um, no I won't go there ( ). He sounded lovely, and his guitar playing was better IMO than his Idol version. Disappointing we didn't get TWJ promos in the ad break though, but lucky for us we got to see the commercial for The Amazing Airobed... twice - spare me your jealous rants, please! Onya D

Hi all
I went along tonight to the Domain show (oops its last night now - about to go to bed). Had great seats - right close beside the stage on the left hand side as you look. Only in the ad break when they brought out Damien's mike stand did I realise I was basically in line with him.
Before I mention about the singing, I want to share this little cute thing that happened. This little tiny wee kid with blonde hair came scampering past me, spun around, ran back beside me, spun around, and was being chased. (basically I was next to the path between the stage and the performer's side entrance and back to the side crowd exit). And I'm thinking gee he's familiar and I'm thinking gosh must be one of my friend's littlies, but I didn't recognise the person running after him. And then I was oh d'uh - its Jarvis! So I turned around, and sitting behind the big camera stand behind me was Eils and all her family. Merry Christmas! I hope they had a great time - they were the biggest cheerers in teh crowd whenever Damien's name was mentioned (too cute). I was a bit weirded out that in a crowd of 100,000, I'm sitting so near them (although it was the ticketed area). Poor old Jarvis crashed pretty soon after and was in his stroller. (all I could think of was oh god I'm glad that ain't my toddler getting on a plane tomorrow! I've flown with kids that age and it is a nightmare)
Anyway, just wanted to mention something that you probably noticed in the threads earlier - yes, Damien did clearly change the word to "suit" from "shoot" (and also changed it from "maybe there's a god above to "if there is a goda above") but the added thing is that,is that there was a big screen facing the stage that had the (different) lyrics on it - and I could see them because I was side on - anyway, I noticed that the cue guy began rolling it back and forward - like OOOPS he didnt' sing the right words - like the cue guy was worried s/he had the wrong verse up.
Anyway - there did seem to be a bit of hesitation in Damien's delivery around this point - and I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in that I reckon that was why! I woudl have found it pretty distracting!
PS I'm so pleased it didn't rain! Although - when the fireworks went off - the winds blew all the smoke and refuse over the crowd, and we were getting bits of packaging and soot drop on us - YUKKKY.
G'Nite.

Oh another thing - in the group performances - Damo kept miscuing his entrances. It was very funny. He kept cracking up. He did it at least 3 times - including the very first entrance he started singing - a whole line before everyone. Poor guy. But he just laughed it off. And you didn't see very much of it on the screen I know (I had a little look at the end fo the tape when i got home) but they had to do all of these dance moves and hand movements for most of the last few songs - hilarious.
He definitely got one fo the biggest cheers from the crowd.

So that was Damien who randomly sang when nobody else did? Oh, that makes my night.

Sounds like you had a great night, dedecom. Enjoyed reading your report. Just curious, though: how did you get to sit in the ticketed area? I thought those seats were reserved for sponsors, guests/relatives of the cast, Channel 7 execs and VIPs (like NSW Premier, Morris Iemma, who was shown at one point cradling his sleeping child). Are you famous, well-connected or both?

There seemed to be a lot of empty seats when Belinda's brother was singing. Did some people leave early?

Hi everyone I'm back in from the carols too, afterwards we went for drinks by the Quay and a walk around. It was a beautiful night in the end, I'm really tired now but will call back in tomorrow with pics and vids A Dede - very cute about Jarvis - did you say hello or weren't you close enough?

Oh, just want to add that up to the time Damien came on, he had by far the biggest cheer when announced in our section (up the back). Human Nature got probably the biggest cheer, ( ? ) but Damien is obviously very popular. I had to laugh because even from a looooooong way back, he is so easy to identify on stage, the way he bounces around, lol

Ohh, I've just woken and wondered what you would all say! Damien wasn't the only one to come in early - he was next to Deni Hines and she was doing it too - they were cracking up together. I shouldn't have said anything! But a lot of the singers had to share mikes, but he and Deni had their own. As for the seats ... well, don't you love mysteries!?

Thanks for the recap dede, but when are you going to meet him? I noticed the hesitation, too and couldn't work out what was wrong. I thought that he was just tired and his voice a bit strained because of the Maroubra performance. Jarvis was too cute. They are going to have a hard time with him today. I've seen enough toddlers on long flights with their extremely frazzled parents. So much for getting a rest.
