Wow, yes the original version of Beautiful - I just loved that too, it was so great in the concerts!!! I still add the extra words where they would go when I sing along  To me they are almost 2 different songs, the 2 versions - I adore the new version too, it's sooooooo lovely!!! But I loved the beat of the old version, every time I think of it it takes me back to the swoon city concerts, it was a highlight of those shows I reckon. |

I keep singing "And I don't believe in chance, we're meant to be where we land" and then I remember Actually when Damien sang it for us ( a month ago tomorrow  ) I almost sang it! That would've left me looking like this:  because I can't sing to save my life, and I was just singing low enough that you couldn't hear me |

Wasn't Damien to die for ... Apart from that I thought the show was pretty ordinary - I do hope they raise lots of money though |

evenin all ;D anyone else secretly hoping D does a song for his kids? ie NJFTW or SFJ? I really thought he was going to sing NJFTW, because James had just been saying that Damien has a couple of kids. I wonder why he sang Songbird. Doesn't matter though, it was really good. I've never heard Katie Noonan sing before. She was pretty good. I watched her on Burt Bacharach afterwards as well. She sounds a bit like Genevieve Little. Carl was really good last night. And Marty was a lot better than usual. Actually, they all seemed to do better without the judges there. Except for Daniel. |

Did you guys think that Rogue Traders were lip syncing tonight ......I thought they were but not sure Yeah they definitely were for some of it at least - Natalie had her mouth shut at one point while the song was still going. How boring were the Young Divas! Except for the parts where Jess sang, I liked those parts. She's the best one in the group.  I liked Shannon's song but what was with the start of it, it sounded like a washing machine being dragged across the road. The Noll brothers were good and they both look like the guy that hosted the St Pat's concert at Hyde Park. Matt's song reminded me of Stingray dying on Neighbours.   Natalie was better than usual last night. She always sings better when she's playing the piano. But I prefer Mark's version of Crazy, it's way cooler. ;D |

I noticed the thing with the sound on Shannon's performance... I reckon the whole idea seemed like a good one at the time, but when they watched the footage back it didn't sound that good, so he re-recorded it. But your description of it is funnier, Spud.  Daniel is definitely a lovely guy but he brings nothing to a live performance except the same bland smile that wasn't even appropriate for the song he was doing last night. He seems to get distracted too much by the fact that the teens are squealing for him, and though his voice is getting more interesting for me he's not a good enough singer to get away with a complete lack of stagecraft forever. I think Carl showed last night that he's miles ahead of him performance-wise by making an effort to acknowledge the audience without relying on their reaction to fuel the performance. And Carl has a long way to go before he looks half as natural on stage as Damien. The Divas performance was the most awkward choreography I've seen in a long while. And they are turning Jess into a generic screamer. Someone needs to get her out of that group. |

Unlike some of you, I've never heard the original version of Beautiful live, so I just love the album version, it is my favourite song!!!! Should be released as a single immediately!!! BTW - has anyone been bidding on the tickets and backstage passes? I couldn't see them on the ebay "awction" last night!! |

When I first read that sentence I thought you wrote Damien. I was thinking " bland smile?"  But I agree about Daniel. He does the same boring thing every week and the hand thing is so annoying. My Mum heard a lady on the radio ring up and ask Kyle to tell Daniel to stop the hand thing because it's annoying. Kyle said he would tell him, but he didn't. Unless he told him backstage, but if he did then Daniel seems to be ignoring that advice. Matt and Carl do the hand thing as well but they aren't as annoying when they do it. And Carl always has this really serious face when he sings, like he's solving maths equations in his head at the same time. It makes him look a bit awkward. |

BTW - has anyone been bidding on the tickets and backstage passes? I couldn't see them on the ebay "awction" last night!! I checked it out too, but when I looked back over my recording where James told us about the backstage passes, he said that by bidding on e-bay you could receive a couple of tickets and a backstage pass, so it seems we're not able to bid on the passes themselves.  Unlike some of you, I've never heard the original version of Beautiful live, so I just love the album version, it is my favourite song!!!! Should be released as a single immediately!!! I've heard "Beautiful" a few times live, but I actually can't tell too much difference between that and the album version, except for the pace. I hadn't listened too closely to the lyrics. |

I enjoyed the show last night. although it was heart wrenching to see some of the sick little babies and I think it's wonderful that Australian Idol got behind the fund raising in Doing It For The Kids. I don't know if the guest artists, Damien included, donated their time free of charge but I'm assuming that's the case.  The Idol contestants did nothing for me except for Carl, who was great in my opinion. The Young Diva's! Even though Jessica looked absolutely gorgeous and we don't have to look at smug Ricki-Lee anymore, they were not entertaining at all. I agree with Kami, get Jess out of there ASAP. After listening to them, Shannon and a few of the others, Damien was an absolute breath of fresh air. I said to DH "Just listen to that voice." while I swooned in front of the TV screen. I was almost going to phone in a donation if Damien would sing again. I watched the Burt Bacharach show after DIFTK and was hoping that Damien would have been on the show. I'm a Bacharach fan from way back and it would have been bliss to hear him sing any of Burt and Hal's beautiful compositions. We were treated to Dean Geyer mangling one of Bacharach's songs and a band (don't know their name) torturing 24 Hours From Tulsa! It would have been great to hear Damien sing that one.  On a more positive note Amy Pearson was fantastic and even Ricki-Lee did a great job even though she does nothing for me at all. |
