Andrew G just pulled out a 2006 20c piece to do the traditional "coin toss" to decide the first singer at the Opera House - ah the finals rituals have begun, doncha love it!
G asked Damien to call, but he said Jess should do it, ladies first. Lovely D has manners. So Jess called "Heads" and it was "Heads" so Jess will be singing first.
Bring on NEXT WEEK!

Cant wait to download the mp3 of Damien's winners single tonight...I'm pretty sure I liked it, but again, I just had my eyes closed listening to the beauty of his vocals....amazing!
Jess did really well tonight, I think the best I've seen her!
But my heart and votes, as always, with D. I love what he did tonight, and its just reaffirmed for me why he would make the best Australian Idol.
And I loved how happy he looked! Yay!

Ok before I go back and look at what you guys thing about the sings and the winners single I'm having my say  Never Meant To Fail - OMG this song usually is just 'eh' for me but tonight OH MY! Damien was absolutly brilliant - pffft and people think he can only do slow ballads!! He rocked it! Waiting On An Angel - (yes thanks to winter I now know the song title ;D) I loved it!! I have nothing else to say except *yum* to the outfit!! Night Of My Life - winners single - watching Jess's version a the start i was thinking Ok I hope D does something better than this and then low and behold guess what HE DOES! His version - well its totally suited to him! I loved his arrangement and *sigh* I want it - NOW! |

Well I thought Damien was perfect, perfect, perfect tonight. He reduced me to tears again. I loved everything about all his performances, he is brilliant. I just know he will win Idol. I also loved the way he spoke about his family's support and seeing Eileen standing up in the audience - that was fantastic! What a lovely family D has. His talent is amazing and I hope we can download his single tonight.

I keep refreshing the mp3 download sites waiting for these new ones to come up. Jess was very very good tonight, but I think Damien has it won - that winner's single sealed it for me (as if it had ever been in doubt!). That song just didn't have the punch of the other winner's singles as a straight ballad, but with Damien's touch - I have affectionately dubbed it the "Coldplay Remix" - it's a winner's single that I will actually want to listen to months, years after the final. And, you know, we all usually end up skipping that song after about a week of owning the album.

Well I just finished watching the show and checking out comments on the Idol forums...not as crazy as I thought it would be.....Yet.
I loved Damiens winners song it was simply the best...I could really hear that being played on the radio..
Jess's version was very predictable....Like all her songs, don't get me wrong she has a wonderful voice, but I'm over that sort of voice especially after I have listened to Damiens music....it just has such a beautiful originality to it, that just over-rides any song by Jess.
I so loved it when Damien was singing Waiting on an Angel and the camera scanned the audience and there standing was his wife Eileen with a huge smile on her face and swaying......just magic...
Whether he wins Idol or not.........He will end up the true winner.

yea that was a beautiful moment wasnt it roxy - bet Eileen was lost in a world of her own - wouldnt you be if you heard him live lol (and were married to him - lucky lucky gal!)

Yay for voting family members! Heehee, I think my mother is tossing up some extra votes too. Tonight Damien has achieved something no other singer has managed - she preferred the more rocky version of a song to the more ballad-y version! Although at that point of the show I think Damien could have sung SexyBack complete with dance moves and she would have loved it... after Waiting On An Angel I came back from posting here and she was still gazing at the screen, making incoherent drool noises. It was kind of scary.  |
