Well, I've just listened to the 'Catch The Wind' album for the second time, and I enjoyed it even more this time than the last time.
My favourite songs are:
- Wild World
- If
- Longer
- Catch The Wind
- Vincent
- Guitar Man
- Universal Soldier
- Blowin' In The Wind
- Baby I Love Your Way
(Yes I do realise that that's half the album, lol.
)
I have other favourites like Annie's Song, Father And Son and Old Man. But I really enjoy listening to all the songs, they're all just so funtarstic.
Although one I'm finding hard to like as much as the rest is And I Love You So. Whenever I listen to it I find it a little bit boring, until Damien starts singing the high notes and then I'm like this: ;D
I will probably get into it more once I hear Damien sing it live on The Morning Show, because I always enjoy his live performances.
Also, I don't like the first minute of Sunshine On My Shoulders much, but the rest of the song I really enjoy.
And the end of Universal Soldier is a bit weird, but apart from that I LOVE that song. I've never heard the original version although I think I can tell which lyrics have been changed, and I think the changes are good.
Whenever I hear the start of Guitar Man I think it's Who You Are (lol, even though that's not on the album). Guitar Man is a really cool song.
So is Everybody's Talking. When I hear that song I imagine Jarvis and Jagger dancing around Damien.
I only heard the song for the first time yesterday afternoon but I really love the sound of it.
I heard it on a Telstra ad on the radio last night actually.
Blowin' In The Wind is another one with a really cool melody.
Vincent =
Lovely lyrics and melody.
I love the sound of the combined voices in the songs featuring The Choir Of Hard Knocks - Old Man and Only Love Can Break Your Heart, it's really cool.
Damien's version of Baby I Love Your Way is really, really great.
It sounds so much better than Peter Frampton's original version because of the way Damien has slowed it down and also because he sounds a lot more like he actually means what he is singing.
I love how he sings the "ooooh"s.
I guess I also agree that Damien sings it in a sexy way. I wouldn't have picked that word to describe it, because to me sexy implies that he's just trying to please people rather than singing something he really means and wants to sing. (Don't know if that makes sense to anyone, lol, but whatever.
) In saying that, I actually can't think of a better word to describe the song, so sexy it is!
I love the Cat Stevens songs - Wild World and Father And Son. I really enjoy hearing Wild World live as well, it's so cool.
Catch The Wind is another cool song. When I first heard the samples on the Official Site, it was my favourite song, and it's still up there in my list of favourites. Really nice tune and lyrics, and the "dee dee dees" are great.
If is sooooooooooo nice. I love the high parts
and I love the lyrics.
The first time I heard Damien's version of it (yesterday), I thought he was going to finish the song after he sang the second last line, and it sounded nice but I was a bit disappointed - until he kept going and sang the last line
perfectly.
Longer is the most
awesomest song!
It's so nice and beautiful and lovely and brilliant and every other word like that.
The lyrics are just lovely.
I love Dan Fogelberg's version too (he has such a nice voice), and I actually don't prefer one version over the other. Although I would rather see Damien sing it live because he's much better looking.
(Oh, and I think Dan Fogelberg died recently anyway?)
This post is very long.
I could talk all day about how AMAZINGLY FUNTARSTIC this album is, but I won't.
Damien's done an excellent job with it!
;D
