You guys have pretty much covered everything, just remembering some stuff I noticed! I have to keep referring to the set list - my mind feels like mush at the moment! I'm exhausted - I've possibly had one of the best weekends, if not THE best weekend, of my life!
I also slept in the most cramped bed of my life on Saturday night (though my bed at Rooty Hill was fine
) and I had two noisy room mates - Dawn can attest to that
- plus I did some serious shopping in Chinatown, so at the moment I'm
So, from the top -
Had a nice meal at the RSL with family, then joined the others before the show. The show was running late, poor Indie and Jimmy were trying to get food about 30 minutes before it was supposed to start, they both looked a bit worn! So it was you who said 'there's Damien!', Womby! Good job!
Loved how he started with NMTF, one of my fav songs from Idol!
My mum cracked up laughing a few songs in while Damien was doing a head-bobbing thing - when I told her to settle down and asked her what was up, she said she like his new hair cut, it makes him look like Jarvis
He's still singing the wrong words to Catch the Wind in the last verse
the poor guy was probably pretty tired, he kept muffing the words. His memory of lyrics is a bit hazy at the best of times
otherwise it didn't show, the vocals were superb
and the craic was as witteh as ever
I noticed he glossed over a line in FAYF, but I've heard Neil Finn sing several versions of the same line in different concerts, so if even Neil forgets the lyrics, we don't have to worry about it
The catwalk got a bit of use, at one point Damien struck a macho pose on it and said 'This is my model pose'
He was amazed that Jimmy was actually brave enough to walk it (and it did turn out to be fraught with danger
) I thought it was Faith he was playing while Jimmy and Indie did the walk!
I loved it when Jimmy came back up the catwalk, stopped in front of Damien while he was still playing, and gave him a little "-and CUT!" hand signal, and Damien promptly obeyed - a little reversal of roles there
Damien was loving it - Jimmy and a certain other person
blocked my view the first time, but when Indie walked it he looked on the verge of cracking up
Indie was gaining fans of her own - at the end of the concert, we were about alone in the theatre except for one gentleman who insisted Indie should come back out
Jimmy came out for a chat afterwards, I noticed he picked up Di's roses
Damien did a lot of requests to keep the crowd happy - Hallelujah, Creep and Nessum Dorma. The audience was a bit slow to get into it - they didn't really get the train thing - but for some reason they really got into BILYW ;D Some girls in front of us were swaying and singing to Annie's Song, and at one point I saw Nuffy and Shims doing a little sway in unison
Nuffy, you thought If was going to be Vincent - I thought it was going to be Longer
Creep was absolutely
he did the super-high notes that he did on Idol!! I've never heard him do those in concert! You know, the part where he goes 'I'm a Creeee-eeee-eeeeep!" It was amazing!
I heard Mum humming the instrumental interlude from Hallelujah, afterwards she said she was sure it was Apache by The Shadows, Dawn said afterwards she thought it was the Shadows as well. We asked Damien afterwards, he said it was Sleep Walker. He even started humming it - it's nice to hear somone like Damien, with such a superb vocal talent, humming like the rest of us
Mum is trying to find a copy of the orgiginal Shadows song so she can check up on him
The glow bracelets were good, I was trying to clap my hands over my head so Damien could see it ;D and I was clapping like crazy on Fall At Your Feet!!! I hoped he'd do it but I can't believe he did!
I was clapping and singing like crazy! that was a definite highlight for me! ;D
Our Hut was good - mum and I got hot chocolates, Mum inhaled hers and was eying mine off because I was busy talking
It was nice to have a chat with everyone and to meet Di and Kazza
That's all I can remember at the moment. I think I'll go check out the pics - mine aren't very good, I was too far away and they're very blurry
Overall it was a fantastic concert - and the area seemed ok, Anny. We hung around the Westfield at Mt Druitt during the day, and we rather enjoyed it, it was a nice shopping centre, and our hotel room was great ;D
