Thanks Shimms ....and a big hello. The play sounds fantastic and so glad it went off well. What a way to start the year. Glad you and many others enjoyed it. Great pics too! Good thinking Braffy, not giving to much away. I am just disappointed I can't get to go with the date changes, hopefully there will be other plays to go to, or the start of many others too. Well done Damien a great kick off for the year with " Sold Out" play and a very Happy Birthday for today with the best of wishes for the year ahead.
PS Thanks Braffy too.

I will give more of a report of the evening now. It started with MrBraff picking Dawn up from the station and bringing her here so that we could make the trek together. We had arranged to meet up with Kazza and her daughter plus Donna Dyson (who Damien has been doing a lot of co writing with) plus her former flat mate for dinner before the show. In true Damienite tradition Dawn and I got lost . We were using the Navbitch but the silly person who entered the address into it put 297 instead of 597 We eventually discovered our mistake and after finding a local to ask where the Theatre was we were finally on our way to the Car Park. Or so we thought. Haha. Once again we (as in me) turned into the Westfield car park in error I did a quick exit and found the correct entrance to the council car park. A short stroll and we were at the restaurant. Kaz and DD were there and it wasn't too long before Donna and her friend joined us. It was lovely having a chat to Donna. I can see why she and Damien have so much mutual respect for each other. Time to walk to the venue just down the road. The particular theatre we were in holds about 400 people and it was a total SELL OUT. I was looking around to see if there were any spare seats at all but I didn't see any. It was nice to see Shims and b/f as we were walking to our seats. The setting was dark but very atmospheric. The storyline and dialogue was very well done. Damien - I really expected to see ' Mrs Brown ' walk onto the stage. The Black Velvet band was good. Nice to see Chris playing a different instrument to his normal one. Also good to have the violin and fiddle again with Jess playing that. There was another instrument that I think Adrian was playing but I have no idea what it was called. It looked/reminded me of a baby bagpipe. I am still not going to say anymore re songs or storyline but I was hooked from the very first note. Heaven. Thank you so much Damien. You certainly are very talented. After the show we drove Donna and friend back to Panthers so that we could have a cuppa and discuss the evening. All agreed that it was a huge success. It was then time to head off home so Dawn and I had another cuppa and debrief when we got back here. That was when I wrote the short piece last night / this morning.

There was another instrument that I think Adrian was playing but I have no idea what it was called. It looked/reminded me of a baby bagpipe. I'm glad you had his name Braffy, he was a lovely young guy and came up for a little chat after the show too. The instrument he was playing was the uillean pipes. Damien put online today that the singer was Jess Graham, if she is also going to the Melbourne show you will all enjoy hearing her, she was great. We found out after we got there that if you entered after 6pm you could park in Westfield free, we lost a fair bit of time too scouting out the various carparks around the area and came across a lady who helped us out and told us the Westfield one was open all night, so that was good. After a confusing start also once we got our bearings it was good that everything is a short stroll once you're in there. Really convenient to have the theatre right in the town centre like that and it was a really good shape for a theatre, in a semicircle amphitheatre style so everyone had a good view and acoustics. Hi to all and hope you all will get your chance to see The Parting Glass, it was great and I'd love to see it again anytime!

Thanks Shimmery. Remember even though the outside world might be raining, if you keep on smiling the sun will soon show its face and smile back at you. – Anna Lee.

Hi there, just home so and not a lot to add ..... but was certainly great to catch up with Braffy, Braffy's DH, Kazza and her DD, Shims and bf, and meet Donna and her gf Well ....you know it's not a true damienite function unless someone gets lost hmmmmm maybe it's a compulsion. Was also great to have a hut after the show.....it's been a while Damien was looking his gorgeous and fit self especially in b l a c k!! (nice tight jeans Damien ) and lovely to see the Black Velvet Band with familiar faces and some new ones Must say Chris was in very fine voice too. Damien was also quite superb with his renditions and what a thrill to hear Remember June Irish style and Unless You Say So. But must say you will all enjoy Toss the Feathers, a song which brings back old memories and a rolicking good clap and foot tap and of course also in the Irish version of Wicked Game (really glad I wasn't sitting behind me ) and there was actually an encore which Kazza and I had a chuckle about Great to see the lovely Eils handling the merchandising she looked gorgeous as usual and had a chance to chat with her and the amazing Damien after the show. As expected, there were no videos or photos allowed during the show, but the venue was well set out I encourage all who can, to go and see Damien and hear him and the band in such a terrific performance of this original play, yet further more proof of the bounteous talents of the talented Damien Leith. Thank you again Damien for your generosity of time after the show and the pleasure provided by the show
