I can see the reasoning behind that (although I'm not sure I entirely agree, it was a public performance and there was no ban on photography). But I take it that is the official position, DFH?

You have to trust me on this Dede I can't elaborate. Yes it was a public performance but D did ask not to post it on the forums and sure you can go ahead it's a free country, but I thought these forums were here because we loved D etc and if there is something that he doesn't want then shouldn't we do him the courtsey of that?

D only actually asked us not to post until the single was released -- I dont think it makes much difference once the video and single are out there, given we have posted many others maybe Carla can you ask David for us - Cheers

I personally think that if that video is uploaded, people will only compare that to the new single.
I think D only did that performance at the Tasmanian concerts to get a gage on how it would be received. He has spent many months since then, fine tuning it and getting it ready for public release. So I'm sure the two of them are totally different and maybe we should just focus on the NEW SINGLE!
or get Damiens permission first. ;D

I was not proposing to upload it publicly unless and until he gave the go ahead. I (and I believe others on this forum) had no intention of being discourteous to Damien now by releasing it publicly without permission. Roxy, you are right the single will have been tweaked since those early try-outs and so will sound even better than his excellent live performances in Hobart all those months ago that all the Tassie gals raved so much about. Update - And thanks David Champion for clarifying this directly this arvo - the new video is apparently so beautifully shot and well delivered by Damien that I'm sure we will all agree that this should be Australia and overseas introduction to the song rather than live footage. So looking forward to it!

Yep thats right, he did say that, but obviously things have changed, so maybe for now we just keep it off this forum. ;D and I can't wait for Friday to hear it finally in all it's glory either.

Ok..I love this song, but honestly, I didn't think I would, when I had heard only a few bars. When I finally heard it properly,I realised how complex and gorgeous it was, and how well it suited D. It isn't a "goosebumps" song, (neither is Come to Me for that matter), but it is a song which showcases D's emotional and expressive ability, as well as being quite technical and very pretty ..the bridge is so unexpected and takes the song in a new direction, which makes it for me. It's the softer, gentler D (if there is such a thing!) telling a story, and I love that. It's a direction I enjoy. The soaring falsetto and power I believe we will hear again on the album, or the B sides, so I am totally content....well, no, actually now I am anticipating the album even more!~

I have the really catchy string part in my head and the "I would never try again" part. Love it. ;D
An acoustic version of 22 Steps would sound nice I think, I like the guitar parts I can hear in the background.

Now I've heard it, I'm just raving about it. I simply love it! Can't wait to buy it so I can play it in the car. It's very catchy but also very credible. Damien has done a funtarstic first single off the new album!

I can't believe we have to wait a whole month to buy the single, and then another whole month to buy the album. I can't wait.
