I just want to say that Remember June is going to be a fantastic album .. hang on ... IS a fantastic album and I can not wait until it is released. It is something totally new than what we've heard before, the songs are gorgeous. i can't wait to hear them again The experience of hearing them in that sort of environment was amazing and surreal.

It's awesome, shadow. There aren't any previews as such, although snippets of some of the songs can be heard on D's vlogs on his myspace page. Very worth a listen IMO.

Hiya Shadow! Yes, isn't it thrilling? That was nice of Guy to say that. The single will be out on Oct 16. We were able to hear it in a special listening session. We're dying to have some little previews to listen to again now because now really we know how fantastic the songs are. It's so hard to wait. But the hype's happening already because those who've heard it (not even s) think it's amazing!

Don't know if any one has mentioned this yet, but I remember thinking that the harmonies and guitar on To Get To You reminded me of Keane. The band has been mentioned as one of D's influences..and I think I hear it now. Which is perfectly fine by me ..they are awesome..but the song is totally Damien..and I LOVE IT!!!!

This sounds pretty awesome, even if you do have to tip a bucket of cold water over some of the posters here in order to get a more rationale review...does anyone know why the release date is as late as October? Did they say anything about plans for marketing?

Did they say anything about plans for marketing? A) Lots of other releases due out soon, local and international. B) Yes they did. btw. Three years is long time to wait for someone to fulfill their potential..and he has. In spades. We were and are, ecstatic!

I just prefer it when you lot try not to morph entirely into Dean Geyer-style tweeny raves.

But you do have to...everything. It's the law. You know that I'm looking forward to this album release a lot - this sounds much more what I hoped Damien would do rather than that CTW album, but I just don't have same drool issue that you do. ;D

Today it's the single "To Get To You" that is going round in my head, can't believe how different songs are still tapping me on the shoulder from the other night!! I heard that one at Lizottes as well of course but it has a massive kick to it on the album version, I remember it almost jumping out of the speakers - maybe because it's such a high energy one, it's the one that's come to mind with all the of being back to the start of the week like a caffeine hit, such an upbeat feeling. I'm hearing it in my head and bopping along as I'm working here today! lol how long is it til October?? Cannot wait to hear the album again - and hopefully we'll be hearing more previews on tv etc soon as well so we can hear some more of the songs again!! I cannot quite remember when the single comes out, but it won't be too much longer!

What's the difference between a belly laugh and Damien Leith's singing in Remember June ? Well, to tell you the truth ... very little! Hey, I tell it as I see it. With a laugh, it can be one of those chuckles at a knock-knock joke or even a chortle at a funny story ... but the best jokes have that "surprise" element that catches us off-guard so that we gasp a deep breath in then... BWAHAHAHA ... deep from the belly! And although it's not really polite, that laugh's an honest and spontaneous reaction that involves your whole body to do it. And, wow, does it feel great afterwards! ;D People watching can't help but want to join you. Well, that was how Damien sings in his latest album Remember June. There's an energy to Damien's singing in this album that seems to come straight from his gut - like a true reaction to something or someone. And this great big voice just booms out with raw emotion and passion. But now, I'm confused -I can't remember that he had the expected masterful control when singing because while listening to each song, I wasn't aware of any control - everything just flows really naturally - no hint of thinking and processing - just singing out of joy, wonder, anger or despair. All the quiet tenderness and the deafening power of his voice just happen for the listener as much as it seems to for Damien. The seamlessness is what makes it masterful control. Also strange, is that I really love all Damien's previous work and especially his first originals album "Where We Land". Yet, it's not until I heard Remember June that I realised what I was missing in all the albums before it: the unrealised potential I always thought Damien had. Damien Leith and Stuart Crichton have achieved it (and more) in this album. What a serendipitous pairing of these two talented people. It seemed like Stuart and Damien were able to channel a shared vision to create a unique and hauntingly powerful album. It shows in all levels of the production - the writing, the mixture of sparse, acoustic moments to the full rock band arrangements, gentle rhythms to danceable beats, and, Damien's new vocal range and effects. What's left to say? You won't really know what to expect but what you'll get is brilliant.

This thread is awesome! ;D I love everyone's impressions of the album, frOm our very first overjoyed reactions, to later feelings as we have mulled over what we heard, and allowed the music to replay itself in our heads....my internal iPod is currently rotating between To Get To You and Golden Line ... Sorry pops in occasionally too, just for a change. In that vein, I thought I'd share a blog I wrote a couple of days afterward...and let me tell you, nothing has changed since then. GOBSMACKED BY "REMEMBER JUNE"When some of my friends and I were incredibly lucky to hear this album, our first reactions were genuine elation, pride and complete awe at the incredible creative collaboration which is Damien's new originals album. Ecstasy comes closest to describing it, really. We were taken on an emotional roller-coaster ride from the very first note. (Remember, I've heard it played right through ONCE..and it was PUMPED!) However, that first note signalled the beginning of an album structured by a genius..it is a two -minute, gentle intro, which is poetic and sweet. It is then followed by the catchier, singalongable tracks, which are not what you might expect from him :They ROCK! What I know, though, of the lyrics of these songs is that they are are heartfelt, genuine, emotional and brave..yes, brave..but not the least bit "soppy"..they just touch you, if you really listen. That's Damien's hallmark, as a singer/songwriter and as a man. His voice conveys that emotion and is captured purely..but with guts and power. The falsetto is there, and is as spectacular as ever, but is used wisely and not overdone. Then, we are into the fullon freakin rockers! Mother Of God!! They are a revelation!.. the instrumentation is full, bassy, amazing drums... and a little electronica ala Radiohead! AWESOME!! Stuart Crichton, the producer, certainly knows his "bottom end"..hehe..I adore the gutsiness, but the lyrics never lose their authenticity. Amazing!! The two more ballady tracks follow. I remember thinking the first was absolutely divine..music and lyrics..then our hearts stopped when it was followed up by an acoustic number which completely captivated us..we were dead silent, just listening to Damien's incredible voice and lyrics. What an astounding change-up! Then comes the last chapters..building again into gently rocking gorgeousness..with a guitar line ala John Mayer/ Eric Clapton which blew me away! Finally, a short, poetic lead-out and the ride is done, leaving us amazed, dazzled and moved. Damien's writing and singing and Stu's production have resulted in an album to treasure. If you like your music to rock you and move you emotionally, give it a listen when it's released. Forget what you think you know and listen with an open mind. It will astound you. I guarantee it.

btw. Three years is long time to wait for someone to fulfill their potential..and he has. In spades. We were and are, ecstatic! Well, he's been waiting even longer than that since he first started in the industry (such as his trip with siblings to the US) up til he won Idol. The big change from what he was doing three years ago - which was brilliant - until now - which is now in a league of its own - goes to show what experience can do to talent, and how much he has grown and improved and developed as an artist, yet still remained uniquely himself. I'm not sure if he'll ever reach his potential, since every new thing seems to top what has come before, and he constantly manages to surprise us with something even more sublime. That's the sort of artist you need in the industry - one that doesn't rest on his laurels or try to replicate the success to someone else. This isn't just making music - it's contributing to music
