Hype I'm thinking you've misunderstood my comment. I was referring to our hopes and expectations re Damien's career, not his. It's freakin WONDERFUL for us to see him reach this height, after the struggles he's had, as we are all aware. Also, I don't mean reaching the limits of his potential. Gawd no. That has probably no end..which is incredibly exciting! I'm also now thinking that Stylistically, I can hear comparisons to Radiohead's "The Bends"..and that is absolutely magnificent..because it's brilliant too. To put his music in the same category as theirs, in any way, is just freakin amazing to me..a dream come true!

Ah. So was I Trilly. I think. It's getting late and I'm going philosophical again I was just thinking of the time Damien has had leading up to this album. Three years may seem longer to us, but he has had a longer career - almost a life time - leading up to this. I kinda see what you mean, having just written that. I'm not trying to speak for Damien. Just wondering out loud, on my part.

Wow- that's great, shadow. Damien is well respected by those who know him, for sure. And how nice of Guy to give D's album a plug!!

Thanks for that report Shadow. That really was nice of Guy to give Damien kudos for the album. I hope Guy's single does well too, it's very catchy. I wonder if anyone has a recording of that interview?

They had an interview with Billy Cantwell, editor of The Irish Echo about the top 100 Irish Australians, but nothing with Damien. I saw that on twitter as well.

This going to sound really weird, (not unusual for me! ) but in some ways, I wish I wasn't a Damienite so I could rave about this album and not sound biased..*siigh* I just want people to know what many of us said as we were leaving: Even if I wasn't a Damien fan before, I'd still think this was some of the best music I'd heard in a long time.

I was thinking about that as well today, about any perception of bias if we are Damienites - I suppose in some ways of course we do all have a natural bias towards Damien's music, but going back to why that is... well it's because we love his way of making music to start with - and if that's the case, and we are coming from loving his music & know it so well - then that is so exciting that those of us who know his music so well LOVE this new album so much!! We are in probably the best position to recognise the evolution of his sound, writing and arrangements and are absolutely thrilled by what we are hearing
