You ain't just whistling Dixie Braffy. It has been the most wonderful experience attending multiple shows of The Parting Glass, can only hope that Damien will come up with more exciting shows like this.

Only 5 more sleeps, and I'm so happy that I decided to come up to Sydney for this milestone. Thank you so much Braffy for organising accommodation and Dawn for squeezing me in on your table.

*sob, sob, sob* The Parting Glass has come to an end. It was a very packed room at The Brass Monkey and certainly the noisiest I have been to. The singing by the audience was the best that I had experienced and I'm pretty certain that the whole audience were involved. During one of the Irish songs a lady came next to me at the front and kneeled down and played the spoons. It sounded terrific. I wish she had gone and sat on the stage so that everybody could have seen her and had more of a chance to hear her. I loved it. The stage was more of a platform than anything raised up high. The songs that were sung are different to a couple of months ago. I would say it is more like the DVD coming out. The recording of that was the first time that I had heard the changes. No more Galway Bay. Lonely Nights opened the show (also the DVD). Chris was unable to be there again so there was only Eric, Kevin and Jess in the band. They still sounded great but Chris adds a depth to some of the songs, especially to The Auld Triangle. It was very hot in there and you could see that Damien was feeling it. He had very bright lights on him. Fortunately he was thrown a hand towel on stage so that he could wipe his face often. I'm not sure if it was Eils that threw it to him. We had a very, very noisy table of about 12 or 14 that were more interested in enjoying themselves than the enjoyment of others which was disappointing and I believe management spoke to them at Interval. Fortunately they were not quite as noisy during the 2nd half. They started off on a bad foot by arriving about 15 minutes before the show started and they had dinner/show tickets. The show wasn't due to start until 9pm to allow for the diners to arrive at/from 7pm, have their dinner and then sit back and enjoy the show. It's not much fun for other patrons when they turn up at the time they did and then proceed to order their drinks, meals etc and then the meals were delivered when it was dark, the show had started and they were swapping meals around because since the orders were taken some of them had changed seats. This was a large table right at the very front of the stage. It must have been agony for Damien. We felt they were being very disrespectful to Damien, band and other patrons They spoilt our night by their behaviour and their non stop talking, however we all enjoyed Damien's singing, the bands' playing and the rest of the night in general. It was so nice to see Dawn, her SIL, Gloria, Spud, 2 DamienFans (who found it extremely difficult to do any of their amazing videos because of the loud, unruly mob on the adjacent table plus it was so dark). Eils, Diana Rouvas and a couple of other familiar faces were also there. It is sad that this has come to an end although I believe it will be on at an Irish Festival over Easter. Thank you so much Damien and co for a brilliant show and I personally am so pleased that I got to see it about 7 times more than I thought I would be able to. Now I am looking forward to the DVD turning up. You can preorder it at www.damienleith.com It is due to be sent in about a week so not long to wait now

Hi dear DLO Ladies,
Many thanks, Braffy, for your report about the show at Brass Monkey. What can we say, what should we say?
It was our only chance to see Damien's fantastic "Parting Glass" (because we have been overseas before). So we enjoyed it very much! BUT how sad that the extremely noise and disrespectful behaviour of about 15 people of the audience affected big parts of the show! It was a great pity that Damien and his band had to deal with this difficult situation (and, of course, the rest of the audience, too). We missed a strong intervention by the management of Brass Monkey. Damien could handle the situation supremely well!
Thank you very much, Damien, for your so special performing "Parting Glass"!!!
Finally: It was nice to meet Braffy, Dawn, Gloria and Spud. (Unfortunately a normal conversation with you was not possible because of the terrible noise.)
Now we are looking forward to see Damien's DVD very soon and his Roy Orbison show in April...
With love, 2DamienFans

Great report Braffy - I can add nothing but don't have much time anyway, don't want to leave Nev in front of the TV on his own for too long, heaven knows I've been MIA quite often lately! You covered everything brilliantly, thank you.
Lovely to see 2Damienfans there as well.. glad you enjoyed the show guys under extremely difficult conditions, I'm sure you missed some of the dialogue because of the noise and yes, impossible to have a conversation.
