Damien is going to be very busy on the first weekend of the tour.

Cronulla Thursday, up to Newcastle on the Friday night and then Springwood in the Blue Mountains on Saturday night.

Wow, how do you even begin to describe how amazing Damien is in concert? Last night myself, my sister Beccie, mum and dad went to Damien's Lizotte's Lambton show and he was in fine form. 

Firstly, the food was delicious. Bec and I got the fish and chips, and also the raspberry and white chocolate brulee. Super yummy!

We met some fellow Damienites, Glawz, Plugger, and Dawn - it was lovely to meet you all I saw a couple of others that I recognise from the forum, but didn't get a chance to say hi to. But hello anyway if you are reading 

A little way into the concert, Dawn gave Damien a naughty present , I got a few photos but they are all a bit blurry as Damien kept moving  Then I very nervously tried to get his attention to give him the Pop Damien. He eventually saw me so I had to go for it, I handed him the present and he said "It's not another naughty one is it?" I assured him it wasn't and he opened it onstage. Eric saw what it was and went "It's Damien Leith! With more hair!"  

Roy Orbison's 'Penny Arcade' was a bit of a standout to me, as I haven't heard that one before. They did such a good job of it - especially Jess on violin. I also loved the little impromptu 'La Bamba' featuring Eric playing the guitar behind his head. Diana Rouvas was in the audience and got up to sing 'Run' and then a very funny moment where Damien introduced their next guest on saxophone - I can't remember his name, but Damien got a bit tongue tied and 'saxophone' came out funny and he laughed and said "I'm having a bit of a Homer Simpson moment here" and he and Eric did the "Saxomophone!! Saxomophone" quote. (I'm a huge Simpsons fan and this moment was a classic!) The saxophonist was pretty awesome, they did 'Everybody's Talking' 

But I think it was 'save the best for last' as in the encore, Damien did 'Nessun Dorma' and the final note he hit at the end was absolutely amazing - I listen to/watch Damien all the time but I have never heard a note quite that huge come out of him. I was in awe! 

After the show, the band came out to do a meet and greet and Damien thanked me again for the Pop. He asked me how I made it, and I explained all the things - a briefer version, haha. He seemed to genuinely love it, and he assured me that he was not going to let anything happen to it, he will take good care of it and it will be going straight onto a shelf in his studio. 

Isn't he just the lovliest person ever?

We posed for a photo and then I ran out squeeing about everything until we got home about midnight. 

What an absolutely amazing show. Damien and his band are simply a knockout and they all seem like lovely people to boot. I can't wait for the Cessnock concert now

This is a fantastic venue with amazing food.
Damien started the show with Eric, Chris and Jess.

Nic Jeffries was invited onto the stage to play saxaphone and they performed

After much applause, foot stomping and table thumping we were treated to the encore of

* Nessun Dorma
There was a standing ovation at the end and all the audience had had a marvelous time.
Damien was presented with a new 'puppet' which he and Eric couldn't work out (even though it was definitely a puffin) and Julie presented Damien with a wonderful Pop Doll version of himself.

Damien was his usual talented, gorgeous self and his partners in crime music were pretty amazing

Thanks Julie and Dawn. I have to agree about the venue, such a great spot and the food was superb! I had the roast chicken, not your standard roast chicken by any means, it looked fantastic and tasted even better. I had the white chocolate and raspberry roulade for sweets, to die for.
Your report was fantastic Julie - you really nailed it. So many highlights and Damien is the master of 'ad lib', especially with the norty gift from Dawn... he milked it for all it was worth and Eric and Damien bounce off each other perfectly, both musically and verbally.
Loved all the songs but was disappointed there was no Remember June in there. I mentioned it to him after the show and he said he did some 'last night at the Brass Monkey'. I said yes, but we weren't there!! I asked if he could do some of RJ in the other shows. I too loved Nessun Dorma, great one to finish on! Damien is not an opera singer but he has a beautiful tenor voice in that top register. I wish he would use it more often than the falsetto as he can get those top notes in his 'chest' voice.
Dawn, thank you for putting up the set list. It was great to have it to look back and drool over again. I'm so glad I have more shows to attend on this tour, every one will be a bit different I'm sure, with so many fantastic songs for Damien to choose from.

Was terrific to catch up with Eric, Chris, Jess and Damien after the show Damien is always so generous with his time Was also terrific to see so many D fans at the show. We sat near Catchthewind, her sister and family. We also caught up with Hyper and Hyper mum and waved to them upstairs. On our table we had Anny, Glawz, Plugz and dmac along with 2 regular friends who are D fans It was lovely to see the place so full and with special guests who performed for us.

Hi everyone, I just thought I'd pop in and do a little report on the Springwood show, since you asked so nicely Braffy

Carla and myself went to this show, we stayed at a hotel not far from the venue, everything was within walking distance which was great, poor Carla did extremely well walking around with her injuries, we met Kazza and her daughter in the foyer and went in and enjoyed the show.

It was such a wonderful night and Damien and the band were fantastic, I really didn't want the show to end
It looked like everyone else had a great time too, there was lots of clapping and singing and they got a standing ovation at the end. We got to have a chat with Damien at the end of the show, he is always so giving with his time, there was a very long queue of people waiting to see and chat to Damien when we finally made it out of the auditorium, it was great to see.

It totally didn't occur to me to do a report for some reason, but after seeing Braffy's request for one in the Hut, I guess I should! By the way, Trilly was also at Brass Monkey (sitting at my table), along with one of my friends who was there seeing Damien for the second time ever. So it was good to catch up with Trilly again. And my friend also had a great night. It was sad that the other Victorians weren't able to make it though.

Some of the set list was the same as the Lizotte's show by the look of it, but there were a few differences. We didn't get any songs from Chapter Seven or Songs From Ireland, but I think D did actually intend on playing a couple, but then just ran out of time. He (and I, and presumably others) seemed surprised when 23:00 rolled around and it was time for the show to end. I was very excited to hear a lot of the songs he did on Australian Idol, especially since I was only young during D's first tour after Idol and so I wasn't allowed to go to any of the shows, and hadn't heard many of those songs live. Nostalgia!

He asked for requests about halfway through, but before anyone had a chance to call anything out, he looked down at me and said he knew what I wanted to hear, and then chose one of the songs I'd requested, which was Harry. So that was really cool, and I thanked him after the show.

There were a few funny moments during the show. For example, Eric telling Damien he wasn't playing a particular chord right and giving him lessons to help him fix it, and there were also a couple of times where D interacted with Trills from onstage, which were funny. And at one point he was introducing a song and said something like "my seventh album was called Now & Then", and I shook my head a little, and he sort of kept talking but then looked down at me and asked whether he was wrong about that, and I said "Chapter Seven was your seventh album", and Damien said he'd never live that down, which made everyone laugh.

We got to have a chat with Damien afterwards, so that was good. He had a very busy weekend with the Newcastle and Blue Mountains shows, so it was very nice of him to take the time to come out for a chat after the show. He said he has DVDs of an old Palms concert that are supposed to be available at the shows, but when I asked him about them, he said he hasn't gotten them yet. Did he have them at Lizotte's? I'd like to get one, but I'm only going to one more show this tour, so I guess it may not be possible if they're not ready in time.

Anyway, awesome show, as usual! Thanks, Damien!
